Broadhurst Point
In early 2011, Arthur and Sue Broadhurst contacted ACT about donating a peninsula with 1000 feet of shoreline on Lake Watatic. ACT discovered that this 2.9 acre parcel had a spectacular view of Lake Watatic and could provide a recreation opportunity to the public. After almost a year of careful research and negotiations, the donation of Broadhurst Point was completed. Since then with the help of volunteers and a grant from the Community Foundation of North Central Mass, ACT has added granite steps at the point to stop the erosion we found when we accepted ownership of the property, a gate to prohibit motorized vehicles, an informational kiosk, and two picnic tables, one being handicap accessible. It was a tough decision to assume the responsibility for this lot, but it seemed in the best interests of both the public and the resource area. While no motorized vehicles are allowed, it is a great place to dip your feet, have a picnic or launch a canoe/ kayak. Come visit to cool off in the summer heat. Dogs on leash are welcome and no fires, swimming is allowed, however we suggest exercising caution because boating up close to the point does pose a risk. Be Safe, Be Clean, Enjoy.
